Swartz Creek, Michigan-based Diplomat Specialty Pharmacy is planning to move its headquarters into part of the Great Lakes Technology Centre on Saginaw Street in Flint.
The move is expect to result in a number of new Pharmaceutical Jobs.
“A huge, twice-abandoned General Motors complex in Flint will soon be home to a fast-growing pharmaceutical company that vows to create more than 1,000 jobs there in five years — and as many as 4,000 jobs by 2028,” reported freep.com.
The Michigan Economic Growth Authority (MEGA) board is expected to approve a $61.5 million tax credit for Diplomat Specialty Pharmacy that will allow the company to hire more than 1,000 people over the next five years.
“We’re flipping our model around, and we’re going to put every job we can in Genesee County, Michigan,” instead of scattering sites around the nation, as is common in the drug industry, reportedly said Phil Hagerman, Diplomat’s president and co-founder.
According to another report, filed by mlive.com, the company plans to invest $12 million over the next five years into what will become its national distribution centre. The company, which is heavily patient focused because of the expensive and special prescriptions, plans to add jobs in areas such as information technology specialists, patient care coordinators, pharmacists, nurses, call centre specialists and pharmacy technicians.
